Certified safety standards

Anything we sell or recommend must meet Canadian (CCPSA) and US (ASTM F963) toy-safety standards — no exceptions.

2
Our hands-on check

Small parts, seams, finishes and true age-fit — reviewed again by us, toy by toy, before it appears here.

3
Live recall watch

We monitor US and Canadian government recall feeds daily, so nothing stays recommended by mistake.

Kindertide, answered — 15 questions parents ask

What is Kindertide?

Kindertide is a developmental baby and toddler toy brand for ages 0–3, based in Toronto, Canada. We match toys to your baby's developmental stage — not just their birthday — and every toy is checked twice before it earns a place here.

What does “checked twice” mean?

It's our double-verification promise. First, anything we sell or recommend must meet certified toy-safety standards — CCPSA in Canada and ASTM F963 in the US. Second, we check it again ourselves, hands-on: small parts, seams, finishes and honest age-fit.

What ages does Kindertide cover?

Ages 0 to 3 today, across five stages: 0–6 months, 6–12 months, 1 year, 2 years and 3 years. The stage system is built to grow with us — and with your child.

What is stage-based play?

Babies develop in stages, not birthdays. A toy that thrills a new sitter can bore a cruiser three months later. Stage-based play matches the toy to the skill your child is building right now — which is when a toy actually gets played with.

What is a Stage Box?

One box, one stage: a curated set of developmental toys for exactly where your baby is — chosen for the skills of that stage, checked twice, without the guesswork or the subscription. Stage Boxes are coming; the waitlist is open now.

Are the toys Kindertide recommends safety tested?

Yes — that's the first half of “checked twice.” We only recommend toys that meet CCPSA (Canada) and ASTM F963 (US) safety standards, and we verify age grading and small-parts risk ourselves as the second half.

How do I know if a toy is safe for my baby?

Three quick checks: the age grading on the box, the small-parts rule (nothing smaller than your child's fist for under-3s who still mouth things), and whether the product has ever been recalled. Our guides walk through all three for every stage.

How does Kindertide track toy recalls?

We watch the official government recall feeds from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada every day. If something we've recommended is recalled, it comes down — that's part of the promise.

What toys does a baby actually need?

Fewer than the toy aisle suggests. At every stage, a handful of well-chosen toys that match the current skill — grasping, stacking, walking, pretending — beat a room full of noise. Our stage pages show exactly which handful.

Are wooden toys better than plastic?

Honestly: it depends. Wood tends to last longer and invites open-ended play; good-quality plastic is washable, lighter and sometimes safer for specific uses like teething. We judge each toy on its merits — material is one factor, not a religion.

What is Montessori play, in simple terms?

A child-led approach: simple toys that do one thing well, made from natural materials where possible, letting the child drive the play. Many — not all — of the toys we feature follow these principles, because they tend to match how babies actually learn.

How many toys should be out at once?

A small rotation beats a big pile. Keeping a few toys out and rotating the rest weekly makes play deeper and longer — and makes old toys feel new. It's the easiest play upgrade there is.

Where is Kindertide based?

Toronto, Canada — serving parents across Canada and the United States, with Europe on the horizon.

When can I buy Kindertide toys?

We're launching soon. Right now Kindertide is guides, tools and honest recommendations; our own Stage Boxes are in the works. Join the waitlist and you'll be first to know when your baby's stage ships.

How is Kindertide different from other toy brands?

Three things: the stage system (toys matched to development, not birthdays), the checked-twice promise (certified standards plus our own hands-on review), and honesty — no star-rating theatrics, no urgency tricks, no toy recommended that we wouldn't give our own kids.
